In Exodus 12, we can read about God’s deliverance of the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt thousands of years ago. God sent plagues on the people of Egypt to persuade Pharoah to let the slaves go. The final plague was the death of every first-born in Egypt. However, God’s people were given a way to escape this fate. He told them to spread the blood of a lamb on their doorways. For every family who followed God’s instruction, their house was “passed over” and their firstborn child would be spared. This led to the liberation of the Israelite slaves!
